政治不信と投票率

民主主義がうまく機能するためには、Voter Apathy and Misinformation を避ける必要がある。
政治不信や情報不足等の原因から、近年の、特に若い世代の投票率は低い。

政治主導でない

従来は官僚による政策への影響が強く問題視されたことがあった。現在は政治主導への改革が進んでいる。

女性政治家の比率

自民党が支配的であり、また女性政治家の比率は低い。
政治家のバックグラウンドについて、多様性が不足している。国民の声を代表できていない可能性がある。

直接選挙と間接選挙

日本の総理大臣は間接選挙。
アメリカの大統領は厳密には間接選挙だが、直接選挙に近い。

2024/11月にアメリカ大統領選挙が実施される。
共和党の有力候補者はトランプ氏。
民主党の有力候補者はバイデン氏。

地方政治

アメリカの地方政治において、州政府が持つ権限は日本のそれと比較して強い。

義務投票制

シンガポールやオーストラリアでも導入されている。罰則がある。

• 十分な情報を持たない人の票が、民主主義の機能低下を招く危険がある。

I agree with that Japan’s political system needs to be reformed.
I have two reasons to support my opinion.

Firstly, Japan is one of the most democratic countries in the world.
For democracy to work well, the public must be interested in politics.
However, due to political distrust and lack of information, voter turnout has been low in recent years, especially among the younger generation.
The US presidential election scheduled for November 2024 is a kind of direct election.
The election of the Japanese prime minister is, on the other hand, an indirect election, which may be one of the reasons of such lower voter turnout, making it difficult for people to feel a sense of political participation.
As an example of reform plan, mandatory elections should be considered, as in Singapore and Australia.

Secondly, Japan has a low percentage of female politicians, which is actually the lowest among developed countries.
In addition, the Liberal Democratic Party is dominant in Japanese politics.
There is a lack of diversity regarding the backgrounds of politicians and they may not represent the voice of the people.

In conclusion, I am of the opinion that Japan’s political system needs to be reformed.
